Shoes Glorious Shoes!!!!!

double split-complementary scheme is made up of two sets
of complementary colours, forming an X on the colour wheel.
It contains 2 warm and 2 cool hues.
This look offers an enormous contrast, interest and variety.
Take a look at the colours of these shoes, red strappy sandals, yellow canvas pumps,
green satin heels and the violet suede ankle boots;
they have all been included in the making of this room.
Red strappy sandals replicate the pair of floor lamps,
Green satin heels replicate the green cushions,
Purple ankle boots replicate the suede textile on the sofa
& the yellow canvas pumps replicate the wallpaper.

Although interior colour schemes rarely
use such strong combinations together in a room,
this look I have created would probably suit
students/teenagers cohabiting together in a rented accommodation

I have positioned the furniture centrally, creating an inward radial balance.
Providing a rounded sofa system around an ottoman, floor lamps positioned inwards
and a circular lighting fixture creates this balance.
Even though there are strong bold colours,  your attention
is drawn towards what's happening in the middle of the room.

There is one thing that is not like anything else in the room
and that is the white central light pendant.  It creates a focus
and highlights a strong offering of emphasis to the room.
Its design is visually interesting due to the shades
and light it creates.

Strong horizontal lines on the left wall
provide a distinguished modern feature to the look.
This horizontal green and white wall informs your eye
that you have reached the end and beckons
you to sit and stay awhile.
Introducing a horizontal nook in the back wall
and painted in a different colour, breaks

the bold purple hue.

From left to right....
 Resene - Get Ready
Resene - Energy (wall colour)
Resene - Kermit (wall colour)
Resene - Affair (wall colour)

Wallpaper in bright yellow honeycomb pattern
adds texture to the receding walls
either side of the complementary purple wall.

The texture of this wallpaper is similar to the canvas yellow pumps uppers.
Notice that the side walls and wall nook in the purple wall are painted in resene paint
called 'energy' which matches the paper and adds depth....

The Sofa has three fabrics, this particular one
just adds subtle texture and colour to the sofa.

Looks very similar to the wallpaper texture.......
you can get this fabric here

I used this rich purple suede to match the sofa fabric above,
it compliments the overall bold look.
I got this inspiration from the purple suede ankle boots......

The red fabric on the sofa is a heavy commercial
textile which gives a coordinated look,
harmonising with the purple fabrics to give it that WOW look!

This beautiful rich emerald green cushion with its
 embroidered jewels gives this cushion
an expensive look, the chosen colour was inspired by
 the green high heel shoes.
The green colour can also be seen

in the horizontal painted lines
 on the left wall.
the cushion can be bought here
I just love the way this cushion breaks and ties in
giving the sofa a pop of warm colours,
which is mostly dominated by the cooler colour purple......

I chose these red funky floor lamps as they resemble
the red strappy sandals in the introductory image......

Three bold green vases are placed
inside the wall nook to add some visual interest....

Incorporating a bright red and white rug
underneath the sofa adds warmth under the feet
and it is also placed there to break up the use of bold
block colours in the room by adding a pattern.

I have chosen this abstract light pendant
as a key focus for the room.
Even though its white in colour, it offers a talking point
as soon as you enter the room, it even dominates over
the rest of the bold colours in the room.....

So, here's the look again......

Girls, girls girls, pick up your shoes before you go to bed!
